Humanities in Medicine Launches Cardiology Rotations and Spreads Valentine’s Cheer
Posted onAt the beginning of the semester, the Humanities in Medicine Club launched two meaningful initiatives that combined clinical engagement with community spirit: a new cardiology rotation and shadowing opportunity, and the annual Valentine’s Day Candy Gram Sale.
To learn more, we spoke with Humanities in Medicine President Aureleah Jimenez, who shared her reflections on these efforts.
“It was an honor to be welcomed by Dr. Andrew and her team at Advanced Island Care Clinic. Our Humanities team not only organized an opportunity to gain valuable clinical experience for students, but also prepared updated educational materials and heart-healthy snacks for Dr. Andrew’s patients.
Leading my group through the clinic was an incredible experience, as we seamlessly rotated roles, reviewed recently learned cardio material, and practiced our ICM skills in a real-world setting, without relying on scripted actors.
In reflection, this experience served as a reminder of the importance of maintaining focus and motivation during the demanding prework and studying. It reinforced the significance of our efforts and the fundamental nature of the curriculum at ACSOM in shaping us into the physicians we aspire to be.”

In addition to expanding clinical opportunities, the club also organized its popular Valentine’s Day Candy Gram Sale, spreading kindness across campus while raising funds for future initiatives.
“Humanities in Medicine’s fundraisers, like our Valentine’s Day Candy Grams, are crucial to the events and initiatives our team organizes. All profits are dedicated to the local community, including our own ACSOM community, throughout the semester. Beyond that, it’s a delight to witness everyone’s smiles as they purchase and receive their candy gram! Our Humanities team expresses our deepest gratitude for everyone’s unwavering support. Even if you can’t attend our meetings, we warmly invite you to participate in all our events. Our mission is to serve humanity!”

Through hands-on clinical exposure and heartfelt campus traditions, Humanities in Medicine continues to bridge compassion and practice—serving both future physicians and the community they aspire to care for.
