Mason Philpot, MS, BA

Mason Philpot is the Director of Admissions at the American Canadian School of Medicine, where he helps guide prospective medical students through one of the most important decisions of their academic and professional lives. With more than 16 years of experience in education, recruitment, international student advising, and medical education program development, Mason has worked with thousands of students from around the world as they pursue higher education and professional training opportunities.

At ACSOM, Mason is passionate about helping future physicians understand their options, strengthen their applications, and take the next step toward a career in medicine. His work reflects ACSOM’s student-centered approach to admissions, emphasizing personal guidance, clear communication, and a holistic understanding of each applicant’s background, goals, and potential.

Before joining ACSOM, Mason worked across a range of international medical education initiatives. Notably, he helped establish a nationally recognized program in collaboration with the Ministry of Health in Saudi Arabia, bringing together an international team of experts to deliver critical care training throughout the country. This work gave him firsthand experience supporting healthcare education at scale and coordinating programs designed to address real-world clinical training needs.

Mason also served at Houston Community College, where he advised and recruited students from more than 140 countries. During his time at HCC, he worked within one of the largest international student environments in the United States, helping students navigate admissions, enrollment, academic planning, and the transition to studying in the U.S. His efforts contributed to HCC’s standing as a national leader in international student enrollment among two-year colleges.

His background gives him a unique perspective on the challenges students face when pursuing medical education, particularly those applying from different countries, educational systems, and life circumstances. Mason understands that the admissions process can feel overwhelming, and he is committed to helping applicants move through it with confidence, clarity, and a realistic understanding of what it takes to succeed.

In addition to his admissions leadership, Mason has helped share practical guidance with prospective students through ACSOM admissions programming, including webinars focused on building a competitive medical school application and preparing for the medical school interview. His approach emphasizes preparation, professionalism, authenticity, and helping students present the strongest version of themselves to the admissions committee.

Through his work at ACSOM, Mason remains focused on identifying motivated, mission-aligned students who are ready for the academic rigor of medical school and committed to becoming compassionate, capable physicians. His career has been defined by a commitment to access, student success, and helping students from diverse backgrounds take meaningful steps toward their future in healthcare.
